Books or Movies

Does form of expressing changes the integrity of the story? Why is it said that books are better than their movie adaptations? After reading a few articles and blogs about the same I found one thing in common i.e. ‘Imagination’. Not only books allow us to experience the story at our own pace it gives us the liberty to build an image of the character and understand it better. But don’t you think every medium has it’s own pros and cons? I mean if you think books help us get to the core of characters movies on the other hand express a scene in a frame and gives direction to view a perticular story. It may sound confusing and contradicting. Don’t you think it’s unfair to compare the story in different expressing mediums?
